These days, this is the primary purpose of the software. Reysen et. al<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cc0000;\">Content coding\u00a0may\u00a0be somewhat slow as it works through multiple coding\u00a0systems for each file and can take a considerable amount of time\u00a0to complete for large files.<\/span> Please be\u00a0patient while your text is processing.\u00a0The RIOT Scan system has been tested across data from over 100\u00a0studies \/ corpora and converges with other content coding packages very nicely. For example, each of the LIWC 2007\u00a0categories that have been tested typically correlate between .98\u00a0and 1.00 with the output delivered by the LIWC 2007\u00a0software package (with the exception of the &#8220;Numbers&#8221;\u00a0and &#8220;Filler&#8221; categories, which we score somewhat\u00a0differently).<\/p>\n<p>Any minor variations between the two\u00a0packages are due to differences in our particular text\u00a0parsing systems. RIOT Scan does some text preparation, which LIWC does not do, in order to ensure that minor text\/composition errors do not exclude words from analysis. I do not know what the LIWC 2007 text\u00a0parsing system is, but I prefer the system of RIOT\u00a0Scan as its decisions as to what qualifies as a word\u00a0appear to align more closely with other mainstream\u00a0software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">If you publish using\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">any of the coding systems performed by RIOT Scan,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">the burden is on YOU, the user, to properly cite the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">individuals responsible for those particular systems\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">in addition to RIOT Scan. A lot of very <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">dedicated people put in some excellent work in\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">developing these systems.
