The primary mission of the RIOT Scan project is to provide a freely-available, powerful, and easy-to-use suite of language research options to those interested in what natural language can tell us about people.

A Brief History

In the beginning, I wanted to build a little program to calculate redundancy in natural language. Later, I felt that it was necessary to scan large amounts of text from different sources and compile various information about them in a single file. I could not find any good solution to do this for me (let alone a freely available one), so I created RIOT Scan.

Since its creation, the project has grown enormously and now includes prepackaged (as well as custom) content coding schemes in addition to lemmatisation and stemming features, making RIOT Scan a powerful little suite of tools for the inquisitive researcher. If you have any questions about the software, please read this site in its entirety.
